Gaffer Bye Malleh Wadda says he thinks his Real de Banjul team went into the game with Marimoo FC with a lot of excitement which caused his side dropping points after securing a 1-1 draw on Friday night at the Independence Stadium.

A much-changed Real de Banjul side trailed 1-0 to Marimoo in the first half before Modou Lamin Demba equalized late in the second half to save a point for Bye Malleh’s side.

“I think we came with a lot of excitement and that impacted the game,” Wadda said in his post-match comments.

Marimoo took an unexpected lead after a defensive lapse allowed Omar Jabang to strike for the Manjai-based outfit after 25 minutes before Modou Lamin Demba brought the game level in the 75^th minute

Whizz-kid Kajally Drammeh’s brilliance to pick out striker Adama Saidy at the far-post who headed it back into Marimoo six-yard box only for Modou Lamin Demba to poke it into the net.

The draw cut short the high flying start the gaffer hoped for who said: “Our goal has been to win all our games but it’s football, sometimes it doesn’t happen the way you expect. This was a game we thought wouldn’t be difficult for us and unfortunately, it was.”

“But I think it was more of our fault than our opponent giving us a challenge. I think we are a better team and the best team out there and we are going to continue and try to show that.”

“I have a 30-man squad and I will rotate regularly just to give everybody an opportunity because I figured out that in the first five to six games, I will be doing quite a bit of change before I start moving with a stable starting eleven. Notwithstanding, I believe the players are capable and should be able to deliver and on this occasion, some didn’t perform as we expected but that’s football”

Real de Banjul will have to wait to bounce back from the draw to Marimoo FC as the City Boys return to action on December 12 against Gamtel, coached by our former Ebou Jarra, a match that will take place at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
