Defender Modou Manneh’s low drive strike was the only goal of the night as it guided the City Boys to a 1-0 win city rivals Hawks FC at the Independence Stadium.

Despite Real de Banjul being superior against Hawks, with the City Boys winning 11 and scoring 21 goals in the last 14 outings between the two since 2015, this fixture never failed to deliver as Modou Manneh’s powerful low striker in the 57th minute was all but enough for Bye Malleh Wadda’s side to clinch the maximum points.

The win ensured the City Boys stay joint-top on the standings with 10 points on the table after four outings.

The City Boys’ quest to main their good start to the season will present a tougher test when they return from their Christmas break, with a blockbuster derby against arch-rivals Wallidan FC on Saturday, the 8^th of January 2022 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau with kick-off billed at 22:00 GMT.
