Che, as fondly called, also played in the CAF Champions League with the Senegalese side before deciding on returning to us on a season-long loan deal. Real de Banjul gaffer Ebou Jarra says his side will not be complacent as they look to maintain their 100% record in the league when they face ‘wounded-lions’, Gamtel, who endured a 3-1 lost in their season opener, on Saturday. Ebou Jarra and his charges will play away to Gamtel tomorrow at the National Technical Training Center in Yundum, in Match Day 2 of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) League Division One. The Real de Banjul Head Coach gave a detailed interview to the Club’s Media Officer Foday Jatta during his side’s final preparation for tomorrow’s encounter.

Real de Banjul Coach Ebou Jarra has spoken for the first time of how the Club and its players will be benefiting from the Live Your Dreams Sports Academy complex in Basori as well as how his new players are adapting to their new surroundings and the quality in his squad. During the interview, Jarra also speaks on the support the City Boys continue to enjoy in Basori and its sister communities in Kombo East, one of the nine districts of the Gambia’s West Coast Region. Jarra and his charges began the 2021 season with a 2-1 victory over Tallinding United at the new Live Your Dreams Sports Academy, which is home to Real De Banjul.

Gambia internationals Modou Jobe and Mustapha Carayol joined our first team training session on Sunday, 3rd January. The experienced duo trained with Ebou Jarra’s charges at the new Live Your Dreams Center in Basori. The Whites are currently in the last phase of its pre-season before the 2021 league kicks off, the presence of the two internationals upped the ante in training. Former goalkeeper and club captain Modou Jobe [Toldo] was in familiar territory re-joining his ex-coach Abdoulie Bakary Njie for the first time in many years. The duo thanked the players and the staff for their welcome and allowing them to train with the team. “I’m so happy to be here training with you,” said Toldo. The goalkeeper, who made over 30 appearances for the Gambia, is keeping up his fitness levels while he is on holiday. “I’ve seen some familiar faces here and I want to thank you all for the brilliant reception. “I’ll challenge you to keep working hard and with time you’ll all realised your dreams of playing professional football. “Real de Banjul is a model and you should be proud to play for this club because it is the best in the country. “I wish you the very best this season and I will be keeping an eye as always on your results,” added Jobe. Carayol left Adana Demirspor in late 2020 after recovering from an operation on his pelvis. The former Middlesbrough, Leeds, Bristol Rovers and Brighton & Hove Albion was full of praise for the young RDB squad. “I’ve played against you guys [RDB vs Professionals] the other day and as I said you’re all good players,” Carayol told the players after sunday’s session. “You guys can make the league very easy for yourselves especially if you’re playing on here [LYDSA), playing on a good pitch that you can pass. “Make it uncomfortable for any team, when they pass, you press its easy everybody comes and you win the ball. “Make sure you keep enjoying it. I know training is not the funniest, is not good to always wake up at 7am, but if you want to be a professional footballer this is what you have to do.”
