Captain Gregory Sambou says Real de Banjul still has a chance to win the league despite being held to a goalless by Steve Biko at the weekend.
The City Boys needed the maximum points to maintain a one point difference and stay close to league leaders Hawks FC who secured victory over the Gambia Ports Authority.

Our experienced centre-back, who has been in fine form since his return from injury, put up another stellar performance at defence that helped the team a clean sheet.
“We still have a chance to win the league because we have six more games to go and we are to play the league leaders (Hawks ). So, we will make sure that we don’t lose any of our remaining games and collect all maximum points in the remaining six games,” the Real de Banjul captain said.
Missed opportunities cost the team the maximum results as Abdoulie Baldeh, Lamin Badjie, Mustapha Jallow and Modou Manneh all came close but were denied by the Biko keeper and defense.
“We could have buried the game in the first half when we had our chances but we didn’t capitalize on them. We just need to work extra hard with dedication and be ready to deliver to the best of our abilities to achieve our goals,” Sambou said.

The Gambia international added: “We have to be more focus on our mission, stick to the game plans and take it game by game we shall surely accomplish our mission. I wish to plead with the fans to never give up and continue cheering us from up there while we do the work on the pitch as together we shall make history together.”

Trainer Ebrima Cham spoke on behalf of the coaching staff, said: “We never expected an easy game against Steve Biko. We had a good first half and we dominated but Biko too dominated in the second half. We will of course be taking it game by game and not putting unnecessary pressure on our players.”
Cham, fondly called Essai, explained that the club’s strategy isn’t only focused on winning the league but also on developing players.

“We are one of the oldest teams in the league and we know how this league is, if all the players we had this season were still here, our position in the league would have been different but we are not only about winning the league; we develop players and sell them. If we were that desperate about winning the league, we wouldn’t move any player.”
The City Boys will hope to get back on winning ways when it plays Falcons FC this Sunday at the Independence Stadium with kick-off billed at 18:00GMT.
