Real de Banjul goalkeeper Lamin Saidy says the eight remaining matches in the ongoing GFF League Division One are finals and he and his teammates are ready to fight to win the league title.
The City Boys were on a run of three games without a win, including a shocking 2-1 loss in the FF Cup to second-tier side Jam City to end our stay in the Cup competition.
The side brushed aside the Cup disappointment with an emphatic 6-0 win over the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) on Wednesday with goals from Salifu Colley, Abdoulie Baldeh, Alieu Gibba, Essa Jallow, Baboucarr Jobe and Lamin Badjie.

Our number one net-minder was delighted after the thumping victory saying: “The 6-0 victory against GPA is very important because we have been struggling a lot. So, we’ve set a marker again and we are ready to defend it like our coach will always say.”
The former Gambia U20 hero said they knew that not winning against GPA might have ended their target of winning the league but the emphatic victory has put he and his teammates back in the mix for the title challenge again.
Saidy said: “We the players took responsibility for the issues we faced in those difficult weeks and we discussed them among ourselves. These issues I am talking about are dropping form and losing games but we are back and you can see there were six-goal scorers (against GPA) which shows that we played as a team. We have eight finals to play and we are going to fight to the end because we want to win the league.”

The AFCON U20 bronze medallist was happy to keep a clean sheet but was also quick to acknowledge the performance of all his teammates on Wednesday evening.
“It was good that I kept a clean sheet which is important but that was the work of the whole defence and the general performance of the team. Everyone fought well and this is how we want to continue now,” he said.

With the victory, the City Boys now sit second on the league table with just a point behind Hawks FC.
The team will hope to continue its form when it returns to action on Monday, June 20, against Samger FC.
