Assistant coach Ebrima Jatta has said he decided to join Real de Banjul in order to add quality to the Club.

Jatta, who was officially unveiled as assistant to Head Coach Bye Malleh Wadda on Wednesday, has already gotten his life with Real de Banjul underway and is currently taking part of the sessions.

Speaking to the Club’s official media, Jatta, fondly called Giggs, revealed how his appointment as assistant at the club, came about saying: “I am more than honored to be part of this club. I was shocked for the very first time I received a call from the Technical Direction (Pa Suwareh Faye) asking me, ‘Giggs, what is going on, I heard you left Armed Forces and you did not inform me? If you informed me we could’ve worked on something.’ Then, I said to myself wow, because I feel like Real is a mighty club in the Gambia, so going there is going to be with pressure but I’m used to that and love those challenges.”

Jatta revealed how his first day at training looked like saying that: “Upon arrival and meeting my able head coach and the team, it gave the confidence and assurance that my decision to come to this club was right.”

“I want to say that I’m coming to the club not just to add up the numbers but to add quality into the team. I think the staff here are already qualified but I also want to be part of the history of people who are going to set up this team to become a better and bigger professional club.”

He added: “My wish is not to come today and go home tomorrow. I served 22 years in the Army and I think I can serve more than 30 years with Real de Banjul, depending on my attitude and my behavior at the club, and I promise you that I will work hard for this club!”

Real de Banjul president William Abraham said he’s been fond of Jatta for a while and is looking forward to him adding his quality to the team.

“I think I am the happiest because Giggs is a coach I have always looked at and tried to get him into Real de Banjul because of what I have been seeing him do in the league for the past years and the great job he has done at the Gambia Armed Forces. One thing I can assure him is that we as a club always look at how to develop our staff, especially the technical department to be better prepared on what is expected of them in preparing our players to be ready for the professional leagues..”

Technical Director, Pa Suwareh Faye, said of Jatta: “I am happy we could bring him to the club because anyone that knows Giggs knows him for his hard work, dedication and always prepared to give out his best. I think him coming to Real de Banjul is a continuation for him. He’ll be working for people that are in need of success, development and results. I have no doubt that him coming to the club with his experience will help the club achieve the desired results.”

Ebrima Jatta is a FIFA Level III and a CAF “B” License holder who has won three trophies during his time with the Gambia Armed Forces, winning the League title (2016), the FF Cup (2017) and the Super Cup (2018) before resigning from his post with the Army club last month.
