Real de Banjul defender Saihou Mansally has completed a permanent transfer to Senegalese top tier side AS Pikine. The diminutive right full-back signed a two year deal with the Dakar based outfit. “I’m excited to join AS Pikine because they’re a good team and their plans are really exciting,” Mansally told realdebanjul.gm. Saity as he is fondly called came through the youth ranks at the club before making it to the first team. “I’ve played for the best in the Gambia (Real de Banjul) and won everything with the club. “It is a bittersweet moment for me but I know the club is in a good state with brilliant players who can continue to achieve more success. “I can’t thank the board enough because they have been supportive over the years. My brothers played for RDB and it was like a family for me,” he added. The Tallinding born defender was one of the longest serving members of the current squad. During his successful spell the hard tackling full-back won everything with the club. “Mansally is one of our best players and he represented the club with pride,” William Abraham, Real de Banjul president said. “We wish him the best in his new adventure at AS Pikine. We have no doubts that he will do well.”

Lamin Saidy and Kajally Drammeh have been named in the Gambia U-20 squad for today’s WAFU A tournament in Senegal. The Young Scorpions will open their account against the hosts this evening at the Stade Lat Dior at 5pm. “We are concentrating on Sunday’s game against Senegal and naturally we want to win that game,” goalkeeper Lamin Saidy told realdebanjul.gm. The Cubs of Senegal drew their first game with Sierra Leone on Friday and will be fighting for all three points against the Scorpions. “It is a derby and winning that game confirms our place in the last four of the competition. “The objective is very clear here, we want to qualify for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania.” Saidy is joined in the team by forward Kajally Drammeh. The RDB wonder kid is excited to be doning the colours of his country. “It’s a dream come true to be selected for the national team,” says the youngster. “This is a massive opportunity to show what we can do as a team.” Drammeh’s performances has caught the eye since being promoted to the RDB first team. “The fact that we open our tournament against Senegal makes it even more exciting. “There’s a huge rivalry between our two countries so it will be nice to experience that and hopefully be on the winning side. “We have only one objective and that’s to win the tournament and qualify for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania,” said Drammeh. The Scorpions are in Group A alongside Senegal and Sierra Leone whiles Group B has reigning champions Mali, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Mauritania.
