Real de Banjul FC head coach Ebou Jarra says he is not surprised that Lamin Saidy, David Sambou and Kajally Drammeh were named in the Gambia U-20s provisional squad for next month’s WAFU A tournament in Senegal. The Young Scorpions boss Mattar M’Boge, led Real de Banjul FC to the GFF League title in 2014, on Thursday 15 October unveiled his provisional list of players for next month’s Africa U-20 Cup of Nations qualifying tournament in Senegal. Goalkeeper Lamin Saidy earns a recall to the national junior side whiles defender David Sambou and the mesmerizing attacker Kajally Drammeh have seen their 2019/20 league performance recognised with a maiden national selection. “It’s really a great feeling to see some of our best talents being called up for national duties with the U-20,” Head Coach Jarra told realdebanjul.gm. “This is the result of team effort complimented by individual strive for success. “I hope all 3 of our boys continue the hard work and eventually make the final squad. “Their selection didn’t come as a surprise to me. Good luck to them,” he added. The RDB trio will be joined by 29 other players across the first and second division’s of the GFF leagues. Subject to government’s approval the 32 players check-in to camp at the National Technical Training Center (NTTC) at Yundum from Sunday 18 October. “The future remains bright and we can only be excited at having so many talented young players coming through,” the former RDB gaffer told the GFF website. “I really can’t wait to get back on the training pitch to start working with them and help to develop these players so that they can fulfill their dreams of becoming professionals and play at the highest level, that’s my job as their coach.” The Young Scorpions will head into the tournament as one of the favourites after winning the inaugural tournament in 2018 in Liberia before finishing third in Guinea last year. Mauritania will host the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in March 2021 which means only the winner of the WAFU A tournament will qualify for the tournament.
