Mesmerizing winger Modou Lamin Demba says his main target for the season is to help Real de Banjul win the 2021/22 Gambia Football Federation League Division One title despite also standing a chance to win the top scorer gong.
Demba, fondly called ‘Mino’, has been a revelation this season for the City Boys with the in-form winger notching in six goals and securing two assists in the process, bettering his stats for last season with five.

“Well, my main target for this season is to help my team win the league because I can say we’ve not won it for a few years now, so winning it will be a real dream come true for me and of course it’ll be nice to end that with being the top scorer of the league,” Mino Demba said.

He added: “We all know the main target for every single player in the league is to sign a professional contract and I hope my team will help me reach that goal and make my dream become reality God-willing”.
Demba added he copes with the pressure that comes along from playing for Real de Banjul and says the support of his teammates has been instrumental to him.
“I cope with it (being the top scorer) very well without any pressure and that’s thanks to my teammates and the coaching staff. I’m not alone, there are many quality players in the team and we help each other to win games. I think that makes the task easier for me because they are helping me a lot.”

Demba said he’s ready to lead the City Boys to league glory this campaign and revealed the secret to his current success saying: “Well, the secret behind my form is me working hard every day as much as I can and focusing more on scoring goals during every training session and try to replicate that in every single game.”

Demba is a target for most opposing players this season but says he is used to the aggressiveness of the other players on him.
“No one gets used to being fouled but I accept it because nothing comes easy in football. I enjoy taking on defenders 1v1 and they enjoy tackling me. I love those challenges because they will make me strong and improve my game!”
