Real de Banjul gaffer Bye Malleh Wadda praised his side’s improvement after a 3-0 convincing victory over Elite United on Thursday.

The City Boys strolled to a three-nil victory over Elite with goals from Modou Manneh and Modou Lamin Demba coupled with an own goal from Kemo Manneh in a match played at the Live Your Dream Sports Academy (LYDSA) in Basori with the result meaning a move to the top of the league table on goal difference with matches in hand.

“We are happy with the performance of most of the players. We are playing the way we want to play now, in our last two games we scored seven goals but we’ve also scored seven goals in our previous three to four games,” Head Coach Bye Malleh Wadda commented after the game.

Real de Banjul saw two of its fixtures postponed due to the unavailability of grounds, a situation which now sees us play at our preferred and much revered LYDSA in Basori coupled with the Late Ousman Saho (LOSFF) stadium in Yundum, but playing at home brings joy to the gaffer.

“We train here, this is our ground, we are comfortable here and we showed that. So, coming here or everywhere that the ground is level, I think we will perform well. The boys were raring to go, we were eager to play because we have been training without playing so it was a good display based on sitting out for weeks,” he said.

The City Boys were playing for the first time this season without star-man Kajally Drammeh who has scored 3 goals and registered 4 assists in six games before his transfer to South Africa with Cape Town City FC.

Byes, as fondly called, admitted that his former number 10 will be missed but also warns that Real de Banjul still boast itself as the top producing talent team in the country. “I think any team that loses a player with Kajally’s ability would miss him but I think we have a good squad that can perform very well. We have performed very well without him and I think we will continue to perform well without him,” he said.

The gaffer is aware of the project and trend at Real de Banjul, which is selling talents to bigger leagues and he is ready to cope.

Former skipper and keeper Ebrima Jarju, wingers Ebrima Singhateh and Bubacarr Tambedou have also left for Estonian side Paide Linnameeskond with more players expected to leave in the future.

“We will continue to lose players and that’s part of the model we do. We want to develop players for the professional level but we had a 30 man squad and we still have 24 players available. We are still going to maintain our status as the best team in the league with or without any player. With the squad we have, I don’t think we will have any problem or that much problem in winning games.”
